Midnight Sun's roots were planted in the fall of 1988 when we saw our first Grateful Dead concert in Miami. Two years later we were selling our handmade jewelry and Tie-Dye T-shirts, during our Community College summer break, at concerts all over the East coast. During this time, we were fortunate enough to meet alot of interesting people who were traveling to exotic places around the world and bringing back beautiful items to sell.
By the time we had setteled on the idea of opening a store and starting a family, it was the year 1989 and we had our sites set on Bali, Indonesia. We first went to Bali in 2000 and have brought back a container of beautiful items every year since. Items ranging from furniture, clothing, wood carvings, mirrors, hanging lamps, drums, shakers, photo albums, frames, masks, paintings, handcarved doors, stone carvings, mother of pearl sinks, and custom ordered teak cabinets.
After rapidly outgrowing our first 900 sq foot store, we moved to the now 5000 sq foot store in 2002. Thailand became an important part of our Bali trip each summer, where we import incredible Sterling Silver jewelry and unique skirts, tops, and dresses. We also, included a trip to India for vibrant silk and cotton clothing, and Nepal for the finest Gemstone and Silver jewelry we have found yet. We attend two major Gem and Mineral shows, and set up vending booths at two campout festivals each year( Magfest & Springfest). We have sinced partnered with a friend to open a bead store, two doors down from us, named Bead Here Now.
